"The simple act of paying positive attention to people has a great deal to do with productivity." Thomas J. Peters
It appears that 2015 will be another banner year for tech trends and business solutions. The good news is that about 60% of employers expect to increase hiring this year, according to a survey recently published by Dice Holdings (DHX), which runs career websites for tech and health care. The bad news is that more than 4 in 10 companies reported they still struggle to find qualified job candidates.
In talking with leaders in our industry, I hear the same thing being said over and over. There will be in increase in demand for skilled consultants with experience in web and mobile applications, cloud computing, big data and security, just to name the top few and so much more. It is apparent that while the demand continues to increase, the talent pool of candidates with extreme skill sets remains about the same. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also reports that there were 4.7 million job openings in June and more than half of employers say that they can’t find qualified candidates.
Scarcity of talent is one of the most critical business risks today, and when it comes to talent acquisition, efficient processes are simply not enough. Today’s tightening talent market is creating a need for us to expand our service offerings and talent community. As we continue to become a global leader in the industry, we at NextGen are strengthening our ability to optimize our workforce and offer an ideal blend of resources.
At NextGen, 2015 will be a big year for us in closing this talent gap and in expanding our global talent pool. It will be what I call the year of NextGen Extreme! We have some major new projects in development which support our goals for recruiting. We will combine the fundamentals of talent acquisition with contemporary strategies and tactics to go far and beyond to meet our client’s needs.
In 2015 we will also be extremely focused on the people involved in every business decision we make. Whether it’s a consultant or a client, we know that behind every new tech idea is a person just waiting to make it happen. Behind every career choice, candidates have family and friends and neighbors who influence their decisions. As far as clients go, everyone has someone to report to, everyone has people working for them and with them who also influence their lives. So, while we’re spinning in a world of super technology, we are dedicated to all the people behind technology, and to all the people who help make our business successful.
The Year of NextGen Extreme poses many exciting opportunities for growth and change as we pay “positive attention to people…” first. While no one can see the future, we can however, look forward with purposeful intent and an enthusiastic attitude as we embrace the year 2015!
